The Everyday Project Day 293

Colin's 1st soccer game was today. His team name is the Woverines.

Nice banner. Guess who designed that.

Where did they come up with this name you ask? Scott was watching the old Red Dawn movie, the one with Patrick Swayze one night ( after a few cocktails) and made an executive decision. Although they lost 6-2, Colin did score both goals.

We had an interesting discussion about how some "helicopter parents" still expect sports to be so equal and everyone one gets a trophy and the score doesn't matter as long as everyone tries and has fun. Man up, people! These boys are 13 and 14 years old. They need to take ownership of themselves and their team and if they make bad plays and don't have their head in the game, they need to hear it.

It is what it is...

  1. They are setting their kids up for failure. In the real world we aren't all winners. Everyone doesn't get that promotion, or the latest car/house/etc... They need to learn early on that you have to work hard to get ahead. And sometimes you just don't succeed at everything you attempt. And that's OK. :)
