The Everyday Project Day 316

Preface: this may not seem like a big deal to the large landowner types that read this blog but for the postage stamp crowd that I belong to here in overpriced, sunshine tax paying city of SD it's kind of big.

Some may say gardening is not a form of exercise. It's an activity. Well, not the take-no-prisoners, kamakazi gardening I do. After cutting my postage stamp of a front and back yard ( Colin's job, FYI. He doesn't do it because he is allergic to grass, is always going to sports practice or doing HW, so I cut the grass 2 out of 3 times. No Mexican gardners here) and doing the weed wacker around the edges, I decide that the giant Bougainville bush needs to be cut. It's entwined with the morning glory and starting to invade the lime tree. Sounds so lush and tropical doesn't it? It's mostly dead except the top layer. The underlayer reminds me of a Rasta gone wild with the unkempt dreads. I know, I should have taken a before picture.

2 1/2 hours later and some displaced lizards... We have a clean corner.
And I was so dirty, I had to undress in the Garage and run naked through the house. I did it fast in case Scott was going to come home for lunch and open the door. TMI - I know. HAHAHA!

The rest of that morning glory will survive another day.
And I found a bucket of balls. Mostly random and disgusting but some usable ones. And a frisbee and a bat..

Th Everyday Project Day 215

Baseball Sunday.
Colin's team tied and Cara's team lost. Both to Rancho Penasquitos. Cara had to play a few innings for the other team because they didn't have enough players. Hey, it's fall ball. Her highlight? Getting a hit off her nemesis, Nick, on her own team. Hey, they were losing anyway and ya gotta give it to her for playing her hardest. My highlight? Both kids on the mound at the same time.

Finished these Crystal skull wrap bracelets for my friend, Renee.

File this under Interesting Things found while walking the dog around the neighborhood.

Th Everyday Project Day 314

I have noticed on other blogs, well besides the hobo blog, that they often do product reviews or beauty tips so today is.....drumroll.... Product review and beauty tip day! Yay for all my readers!

So the product for review today is Garnier Olia Permanent Hair Color. Why this product you ask?
 3 reasons:
1. Coupon
2. On sale
3. I needed to cover those horrible grays.
And if you can't change your hair, what can you change? Well,  you can and should change your underwear but I digress.  And now that I think about it some people can't really change their hair but I can, so I do.

Required product picture

1st comment on Facebook was "yellow?" No, that yellow flower is the package design. They probably should change that since I got a few "yellow" comments and it is kind of misleading.
Required before picture...scary, I know.

This is what comes in the box. (I'm copying how other bloggers do this.)
Loving the black gloves. Makes it seem like badass hair color.

Here's the thing. The color is called Darkest Violet. According to the picture on the box, my current color should come out a deep red. In my brain the debate is going on: picture vs name. Deep red vs violet(purple), picture vs name. deep red vs violet(purple), picture vs name. deep red vs violet(purple). You can see where I'm going here.

Color mixed

Required After Picture

Conclusion: Darkest Violet means purple, at least on my hair. Soooo, if you can't change your hair, what can you change... and I kind of like it. Call me purple hair, bad ass mom.

The Everyday Project Day 313

As I was at the stoplight at Mira Mesa Blvd and Black Mountain Road, where the hobos pan handle, I saw an interesting sign.
Follow Me at PopularHobo.blogspot.com.
A hobo blog????
Me: Colin! There's a sign for a hobo blog!
Colin: A hobo blog? Hobos can't have blogs. They don't have computers. Hobos can't blog. Give me your phone.

Sure enough the hobo has a blog! http://popularhobo.blogspot.com/?m=1 Here's his intro:

From Mira Mesa,Ca.,Popular Hobo News & Entertainment is a candid multimedia exploitation of the local hobos with news reports, stories, editorials, gossip and the issues and events they contend with and much more. PARENTAL GUIDANCE is advised here due to the high probability that gutter-mouthed hobos will often say vulgar/profane stuff...

Then I got to thinking how many hobos have blogs. So I google hobo blogs. On the first page there are a few for travel writers and rv travelers but I'm looking for a real hobo blog. Then I find one who's last post was about 2008.

The Popular Hobo has about 5 posts. His name is Scott.  Turns out he was living in the dumpster cage behind CVS because they keep there dumpster closer to the door and not in the cage. His "cagemate"? got them kicked out because he played his radio too loud and the mall cleaners called management for a security security guard to kick him out. So he snuck back and lived there in his "gated community" for a few more weeks. He has a Mac laptop that he keeps in his suitcase and jacks free wifi.

Since his picture was on his blog and he describe his suitcase and shopping cart, I know  which hobo is the Popular One. I saw him putting up another big sign just off the 15 freeway on an electrical  box today. He is really promoting his blog.

Who knew?????

The Everyday Project Day 312

I love it when I take my own advice. And it works out... Sort of. What advice, you ask? Regarding emails: if it's good enough to send now, it will be good enough to send later when you have time to re-read.

I woke up to this email from the new sponsor rep to the board. It's his job to get people , mostly businesses to give money to the league. He is a big talker, so far, not much follow through.

I've read the email threads regarding the field improvement plans, delay and redesign.  Here's my take on the whole situation - I can appreciate the City continuing their due diligence and finally securing funding.  However, waiting another 2 to 3 years before anything is done just isn't my idea of progress.  I've come to realize, by the time the city begins the improvements, given their aren't more delays, my son Tyson will already be in Majors.  I'm really not interested in waiting that long to be a part of progress, clean/safe fields, and a venue which attracts top talent.  With that being said, is the intent of the league to wait for the city or are there plans to utilize surplus/reserve funds to partially improve areas of the field(s) that have become dilapidated, unsafe and unattractive?

I appreciate your response in advance.

Nice right???? I wanted to fire off a nasty gram saying something like:
So what you are saying is if your kid is not going to benefit immediatly, you are jumping ship for greener pastures??? Tell that to all the the people before you who have worked on this project whose kids won't benefit. (Like mine) And the retired guys on the rec council who have been doing this type of stuff for 30 years and whose great-grandkids may not see the benefit. Since you are on the board, YOU are the league. Welcome to community service 101.

But no. I fumed a bit, didn't hit send and then went to work. During this time, the 2 other people copied on the email responded by saying they agreed with his frustration and gave the timeline from the city and explained how it will work, let's make a list of what needs to be done now and what can be saved until the remodel, blah, blah, blah and have the board decide what the league wants to do.

Niiiice, I think. Way to put it back on him. This is the response I sent back.
Ditto on what Ted and Greg said. There will also be some significant costs the league will probably have to cover when the project is underway. Temporary fencing is one I can think of. Getting sponsorships in line during the planning process will be key for us to be able to provide the players and the MM community at large the best fields possible.

No response back...he'll probably jump ship but then again good riddance to bad rubbish.

It is what it is...

The Everyday Project Day 311

As we are walking into the Padre game last night, I make the remark:
I guess Ted, will have to order the Padre uniforms this year, if we offer them.
Cara: You know mom you are still going to have to do that.
Me: That's the president's job. I have 5 more days and I haven't heard anything about ordering uniforms.
Cara: But you know you are still going to have to do those jobs... just without the fancy title.
Me: Ugh
Cara: Sorry to break it to you but I can't lie, Ted is not going to do all the jobs you do.
Me: Cara, in this situation, its OK to lie and let me live out my non-presidential fantasy.

The Everyday Project Day 310

Here is the latest update on Sean Casey and his battle with Gillian-Barre Syndrome.
Another week has gone by and not much has changed.  After seeing an orthopedic doctor on Friday about Sean's ankle it was decided to not have any weight on it till the pain was gone.  He goes in this Friday to check to see if everything is ok.  They think he might have injured the growth plate in his ankle.
Not much has changed this week.  Sean continues with all his therapies and seems to do well but he is still pushing Mom and Dad to play football.  He hasn't tried the Tai Chi class yet but they got a DVD of it to try at home.
Sean is doing well in school and the teachers seem to like him a lot.  Jesi says he's got all A's so far.
Thank you for hanging in with me this whole time while I write about Sean.  It's been good for me to express myself.  I know the Lord has been with all of us and continues to be at our side everyday, not just the bad days.  It's a comfort to know how many friends and family have responded with such wonderful inspiring words of confidence for Sean.  We are truly blessed.
Thank you again and my God Bless you all.

No news on Tony Coleman and his neck surgery other than it was very long. Over 6 hours. So its back to the preschool for me tomorrow.

I have been working on some jewelry projects including the popular Sideways Cross Necklace and some skull bracelets so I have been busy.

The Everyday Project Day 309

I am sooo tired. I stayed up until 2am making a video from Colin's winning baseball season. Why you ask? I don't know. I was having fun playing around with the iMovie app.

Take a look. The second one has to be watched on a regular computer, not a phone or ipad.

The husband of one of Colin's preschool teachers had neck surgery today so I am working herding cats for a few days while she stays home with him. And I found out she broke her arm the first day of school because she tripped on a kid. Please say a prayer for Tammi and Tony Coleman.

The Everyday Project Day 307

How did I sleep through this?

Our neighbors went on a vacation and their 19 year old son had a party.
#1 they are Mormon and every function of theirs that have ever gone to has been alcohol free.
#2 pot and beer pong and were belligerent to Scott when he went over to tell them to turn it down.
#3 it was deal with Scott or deal with the cops
#4 Scott calls the mom.
#5 kid is in deep doo doo.

And I slept through it all. Scott has become the responsible parent. (At least last night when the neighbor kid's party kept him up).

Today I was representing MMWLL  at the Mira Mesa Street Fair.
#1 set up at 8am
#2 break down at 5 pm. Yep that was me there the whole day. Big thanks to Mike and Kelly Clemen and my NBF Yolly so at least I had a few bathroom breaks. I guess that's why they pay me the big $$$. Oh wait! I'm a volunteer!  And to the Mira Mesa High ROTC who were awesome for helping me set it up and break it down.
# 3 50th birthday party for my friend, Sarah.
#4 I'm done...

The Everyday Project Day 306

I happened to catch Brooke Shields on the Today Show this morning. She has always been on my good list since she is smart
 Hello Princeton

and seems level headed. Brooke had  this to say about Miley Cyrus's ridiculous performance on the VMA (Video Music Awards)

"I was Hannah Montana's mother!" she told TODAY's Willie Geist, then slipped into hand-waving faux-hysteria, adding: "Where did I go wrong?"
But more seriously, Shields — herself a former child star who had to transition into adulthood in the public eye — had other things to say about the performance. "I just want to know who's advising her, and why (the VMA display) is necessary.... (Our children) can't watch that.... I feel like it's a bit desperate."

Although she may be famous for 'Nothing comes between me and my Calvin's",

 Pretty Baby

 Endless Love

 and Blue Lagoon

every show I have seen her on in recent years has shown her comedic and dramatic acting chops. Based on her appearances on talk shows, she seems like someone I would want to be friends with.

My point, you ask...back to the Today Show. I was pretty impressed that she looked her age. She was not some scary Botox, bad face lifted nightmare. She looks great for a normal 48 year old woman. She may have had some plastic surgery but it certainly has not been some major Joan Rivers type. She had crows feet, forehead wrinkles and laugh lines. I LOVED her natural look.(even with all the TV make up) She was funny, real and she blew her teleprompted lines at least 3 times in 30 minutes I watched the show. All the more reasons she should be friends with me.

The Everyday Project Day 305

I have to admit I'm feeling at a bit of a loss today. Last night was my last meeting as prez of MMWLL. For the last 2 years, when people would ask what I do, my first answer was always, "I'm the president of Little League." Even though I am trading in the job for 3 jobs (snack shack manager, secretary and District fall ball coordinator), I kind of feel sad and slightly worried. Mostly because I worked so hard to get that league organiized and running efficiently, today it seems a little hard to let go. I'm sure the new prez will do a fine job but he has NO idea the amount of work I put into it. He will soon find out.

In the spirit of  "spin" as I work on my resume and cover letter, I'm no longer a substitute teacher and professional volunteer. Retired teacher embarking on a new career sounds much better. I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner. I guess I'll have to credit Roger who retired from Apple to become an IT specialist for a school.

Gotta spin it round.

The Everyday Project Day 302

Update on the FTJ (or job of any sort) I registered with an online tutoring service. They are suppose to match you with kids in your area. One of the sections was about your personal information, policies, etc... Here it is. Would you hire me? Keepin' it real.

I get your kid. It's hard, you butt heads  and push each other's buttons. They can't get the work done and you are out. Out of time, out of patience and out of ideas. Fret not!  Help is here.

I am a CA credentialed and experienced teacher and tutor. I am a mom!  (14 year old boy and a 12 year old girl)

My credentials and education speak for themselves. So this is what you want to know about me.

I love kids and love a challenge. I love kids that are hard to take and are challenging. I do yoga so I am flexible, zen and calm. My chi is in a good place. I make jewelry and do tons of crafts so I am creative. I am organized and innovative. I start from the very beginning because its a very fine place to start. You don't move on until you get it. And more of the same does not always work. I change it up and keep it real. I am direct and won't lie to you.  My skin is thick and you can't hurt my feelings. Building relationships and character are as important as the final score. As president of Mira Mesa West Little League, I Run the Fun. I love reality shows and the Food Network.

So you ask, "If you are so fabulous, why are you not in a classroom?"
My response: I speak my mind, I am real with kids and parents, PC is NOT my middle name. I will be in your kids corner, meet with their teachers, analyze their test scores, attend IEP meetings, hold your hand and give advice. I retired from classroom teaching when I was pregnant with my son. I am 51 years old and not in the preferred demographic for re-hires.  I am good at what I do.

My superpower? I am a TEACHER.

The Everyday Project Day 301

I was asked for an update on Crash Pad (Day 300) so here it is:

Holy Concert Goers!
What a pleasant bunch. Kyle (my nephew) and his friends Alex and Nicolai were awesome guests. They arrive about 12. Not drunk or drugged up. We watched Saturday Night Live. They included Colin in the conversation. They brought inflatable air mattresses... and gifts! A whole bag of  random stuff from Trader Joe's.

Lets's analyze.
Popcorn. I love! (in any form). Coffee, I drink in the morning. Organic Espresso blend (points for creativity),
Chocolate Chip cookies ( shout out to Auntie Paula?) Yogi Tea (I do yoga) Pink Lemonade ( to mix with the vodka they are too young to buy).

To recap...Kyle, Alex and Nicolai are invited back anytime.
1. Pleasant
2. Personable
3. Cleaned up after themselves
4. Brought random gifts ( not necessary but appreciated)

The Everyday Project Day 300

Day 300!!!!! Holy Countdown! Only 65 more days...

Colin had soccer and lost 6-2. Guess who scored both goals...again. You got it. Colin. Nice job!

Baseball tomorrow. Neither team look so great at this point but we shall see.

Here's a milestone. My nephew, Kyle and  2 of his oldest friends will be spending the night here after a concert. They live just up the 5 in Huntington Beach aka Surf City. Kyle called me  last week.

Kyle: Aunt Marybeth, ummmmm, would it be ok if me and 2 friends spend the night after a concert.
Me: I guess, is the concet in SD? When?
Kyle: Sept. 28 in Chula Vista.
Me: Yea, you can stay.

Today at 4pm
Kyle: Ummmm Aunt Matybeth, it's Kyle.
Me: I know, I said, "Hi Kyle when I answered the phone.
Kyle: I got the day wrong for the concert. It's tonight. Can we still come?
Me: Thats fine. What time should I expect you?
Kyle: maybe 9 or 10.
Me: Well, Andrew is spending the night so you guys will have to find a spot.
Kyle: OK, thanks for having us.
Me: Text me when you are close.
Kyle: OK

I then find out that its a festival concert. The band they are seeing doesn't come on till 9. So I'm not expecting them before midnight. I get visions of Chuck and Rich ( my brothers, the Deadheads) showing up at all hours of the night in all stages of drunken/drugness. (Is drugness a word?) I'm pretty sure that won't happen since the '80's are over.

Maybe I'll be the cool aunt now. (Oh wait, I'm always the cool aunt)  However, no crash pad here. I got kids to look out for.

The Everyday Project Day 299

I had something a little funny that I was thinking about posting today however I learned that a friend just lost her husband in a motorcycle accident this afternoon. They were not close friends but definitely in our outer circle.

Scott called as I was dropping Cara off at baseball to say he was running late. Another person at the field said there was a fatality motorcycle crash on Miramar Road. As people kept drifting in late, they all commentated on the traffic delay. I kind of said a little prayer and then put it out of my mind. Little did I know that when I went to pick Cara up at a birthday party that I would find out it was someone I knew.

So no funny post tonight. It doesn't seem the time is right.

The Everyday Project Day 298

Cara's follow up:

This is the email I sent to her teacher. Pretty non-confrontational as I see it.

Cara would like to share in class tomorrow.

She did share some disturbing information this afternoon. Cara said some kids were laughing and joking during the video. When I questioned her further as to what the teacher did, she said you may not have heard or you had stepped out of the room for a moment. Cara was really upset at this behavior and it was the 1st thing she mentioned when I picked her up. I would like to assume had you known that laughing and joking was going on, you would have stopped it.

I thought you should know that this was going on as Cara may not bring it up to you.

Respectfully,
Marybeth

And her response:
Ok, Cara can share tomorrow.
Wow, I'm shocked at the behavior she heard. I did not hear it. I did step across the doorway briefly, but it was silent when I returned. I will address it in a meaningful way, not pointing to Cara.

Thanks,
Felicia

So... Cara presented her stuff to the class and she said they were very interested. She said the teacher said something like: Most of you were new born babies if you were born at all when 9/11 happened. While people on the west coast were horrified and shocked, most were not affected the way the east coast was. Those people had family and loved ones who were killed or rescue workers or survivors. WE ALL need to be considerate and respectful because only by geography, you were not affected.

Nicely done, Ms. Ryder.

The Everyday Project Day 297

Since the whole school watched a video on 9/11 during the advisory class, Cara did not get to show her stuff this morning. When I picked her up she was steaming mad.

Me: How was your day?
Cara: I didn't get to show my stuff today in advisory because we watched a video. I am sooooo mad, I wanted to punch some kids.
Me: Why?
Cara: Because they were laughing and joking during the video. They were so disrespectful and I was so sad for the victims and the rescuers.
Me: Did the teacher do anything?
Cara: I'm not sure she knows because they were quiet.

She will know now.

Her teacher emailed me to say Cara can show her stuff tomorrow. She will know. I also posted it on Facebook so...

The Everyday Project Day 296

I'm so proud of my girl, Cara.

She comes up to me with her 9/11 shirt that she got at the Memorial.
Cara: Wake me up at 6:15 and if I come out, not wearing this shirt, make me put it on.
Me: Ok
Cara: Can you find the imprint I made with Uncle John's name and the visitor pass that has my name on it.
Me: OK, are you doing something special at school tomorrow?
Cara: Well, I want to prove that I went there. So I need the stuff.
Me: I'm glad you want to show your class.
Cara: And its important that my class knows that its my uncle that was killed. And that the people killed were not just random people but uncles and relatives of someone you know.

I'm SOOOOOOO proud of my girl, Cara

The Everyday Project Day 295

Although I love my reality shows, I don't often have the time to take on a series. I don't like the crime dramas and my comedies are pretty limited to Big Bang Theory and Modern Family. My go to is anything on the Food Network. I started watching Under the Dome and I hope it doesn't head into confusion land like Lost.

While on vacation, I started watching Orange is the New Black on Netflix on my ipad. The reason I watched on my ipad is I don't want to interfere with anyone else's tv choices and I have Netflix. And I was up at 3 am NJ time.

Orange is the New Black is based on the memoir of Piper Kerman, a well educated, well off, engaged white chick. Kerman spent 13 months in prison in 2004, for getting caught laundering money for her heroin dealing, girlfriend 10 years ago.

Kerman is Piper Chapman, played by Taylor Shilling.  Piper is just learning how to get by in prison, when who shows up but Alex. The girlfriend, Alex, is played by Laura Prepon from that '70's Show.

The characters are well developed and each episode details how one of the main characters ended up in the prison as well as the daily struggles, prison codes and relationships among the characters. It also showcases the creativity the women have by trying to make do with the basic prison issue stuff.

Ex: In episode 13, the last one in Season 1, an inmate known for not ever having spoken breaks out in song during the Christmas pageant wearing this crown made entirely of tampons.

The Everyday Project Day 294

I saw an intriguing recipe on a blog that I follow called Herbs and Oils World  (http://www.herbsandoilsworld.com/) for Korean Honey Lemon Tea. It is supposed to be good for sore throats. As you well know, Colin had a tough time last year with the mono and the WPW procedure. I want to keep him as healthy as possible. Plus he likes tea. And Scott or Cara are always on the sore throat/headache merry-go-round soooo - and they like honey and lemons. Win-Win!!!

Not being one to sit around and wish I would make this or pin it on that timesuck Pinterest,  I put out a post on Facebook to see if anyone had any spare lemons or to trade for limes. Turns out Nicole, the mom of one of my tutor kids, has a lemon tree and she was willing to give some up.

I love to have jars with stuff floating around. It looks so artsy and zen. (Well except for that vinegar and oil I opened at my dad's house. I'm thinking at least 10 years! You actually have to use the stuff in a reasonable time frame.) I think I am channeling my nana, my dad's mom. I'm pretty sure Nana would be proud.

The final result should be ready in a few days. The blog says you can keep adding to it since honey is a natural preservative. http://catherineboley.blogspot.com/2009/08/preparing-for-winter.html

I'm sure by that time I'll figure out how to add booze.

The Everyday Project Day 293 1/2

Scorekeeper: Someone who keeps score

If you offer to do something for me, I assume you mean it and I will take you up on it if I need to. If I offer to do something for you, I assume the same.

Some will say: When you assume you make an ass out of you and me. However, in most situations I expect an offer to be true.

In other instances, if I see something or make something that will honor a person or I think a person will like it, I will give it to that person, no questions asked or assumptions made.  If you do a favor for me and I thank you, it is heartfelt and nothing more is expected or required.

I don't keep score.

The Everyday Project Day 293

Colin's 1st soccer game was today. His team name is the Woverines.

Nice banner. Guess who designed that.

Where did they come up with this name you ask? Scott was watching the old Red Dawn movie, the one with Patrick Swayze one night ( after a few cocktails) and made an executive decision. Although they lost 6-2, Colin did score both goals.

We had an interesting discussion about how some "helicopter parents" still expect sports to be so equal and everyone one gets a trophy and the score doesn't matter as long as everyone tries and has fun. Man up, people! These boys are 13 and 14 years old. They need to take ownership of themselves and their team and if they make bad plays and don't have their head in the game, they need to hear it.

The Everyday Project Day 292

Its official... no, didn't get that job yet. We are back in the groove...

School started on Tuesday. Colin has had 2 soccer practices and 2 baseball practices. Cara has had baseball practice and a theater dance rehearsal. I worked an entire day on Fall Ball and subbed in the SEEC Preschool yesterday and today. I picked up the Fall Ball uniforms and distributed them.

Tomorrow Colin has his 1st soccer game. Cara has a theater rehearsal and baseball practice and I am taking her to get a new hamster.

And the Back to School packet came home today. 10-12 things to read, sign and send back. Why can't they have this stuff online. I hate to write and my handwriting stinks. And the only thing that changed from last year is Scott's phone number.

The Everyday Project Day 291

Guess what you can buy on the internet!
Ready for the latest in Ickiness and deception???
Women have been selling positive pregnancy tests on Craig's List!   For $25-$40!

Why would they do that you ask?
A health teacher wanted one to use in a video she was making on teen pregnancy.
Play a trick on old mom and dad?
Try to catch a cheating spouse?
To get money for an abortion and keep it for yourself?

And the big one?
To get your man to "pop the question"!

Just the thought of purchasing someone's urine on a stick is nasty enough but its the deception factor that really bothers me.

First of all, we don't live in the age where a man has to marry a woman because she is pregnant. It would be nice if they got married before she got pregnant but still.

And what happens 9 months later when there is no baby or 3 months later when you are not showing? "Psych! I was just kidding?"

And who wants to marry someone who would tell a lie of this caliber. I'm not saying a little fudging of the truth like, "you don't look fat in that dress", but "Honey, we have to get married because here is my positive test." What man wants that woman???

And if you have to trick someone into marrying you, he obviously doesn't want to marry you. Move on.CRAAAZZZY!

The Everyday Project 290

This "Fat Flush" water has been all over Facebook lately. In the name of science, experimentation and fat flushing everywhere, I made some.

I often make " spa" water and have used these ingredients in the past  so maybe it is this combination or maybe, just maybe, I have been flushing the fat all along. (Doubtful)

I used 1 big lemon, 2 limes, 2 oranges, 2 Persian  cucumbers and 1 bunch of mint. The recipe said to divide up among water bottles but it was easier to put it in a pitcher. There was hardly room for the water. I would either use less stuff or use a bigger pitcher. Slice everything up so it looks nice. (I put that in case someone might put them in whole)

That's it. As it ran out, I added more water for 2 days. I also ate some of the cucumbers and oranges along the way but after 2 days they're re pretty soggy and I put it all in my composte.

It tastes delicious but I like this kind of stuff. Vodka or gin would just make it better. I didn't do that even though I thought about it.

Results??? Undecided. Maybe I should have weighed myself first. Duh, that's why I'm not a scientist. I am well hydrated...

The Everyday Project Day 289

Had to have a little meeting with my friend Jose, Cuervo, that is before, I could even begin this post. I think I started and deleted at least 4 times before I heard the call...

Disturbing... Horrible, yet I can't look away...I wanted to snap a pic sooooo bad.

After a perfectly lovely breakfast with some friends that  traditionally celebrate the the 1st day of school together, I set off on some errands. As I am pulling into a parking spot near my bank ( CalCoast, in the MM mall) I see a woman who almost made me crash the car. Holy Sh$$$t! Walking with an Asian man in his mid 60's I will describe from the bottom up:

8 inch tall pink glitter CFM stilettos. Looooong spray tan legs. Daisy Duke denim mini skirt  butt cheeks showing. Spray tan midriff with dangling belly button piercing. A denim zipper top that did not contain the BIGGEST FAKE boobs I have ever seen. I thought she was going to tip over. And....she was tucking her nipple back in. OMG!!!!! Spray tan white chick, with bleach blond hair. She seemed to be a rough looking mid 30's. Did I already say OMG???? This is what I imagine a stipper to look like. And she walks into the bank with the Asian guy.

I gotta give props to the bank people. They are "bank people" after all. They talk in bank code with head nods and eye rolls. The woman next to me said, " She sure wants to be noticed!" The bank guy said drolly, "Obviously." That was the only comment.
And I use drolly in a sentence.
If I ever see her again, I'm going to ask for a photo. She wants to be noticed -  obviously.

The Everyday Project Day 288

I'm kinda getting caught up on stuff but it sure is hard as I want the vacation mode to last as long as it can. You know happy hour, snacks, etc.

Sneak preview: I will be starting to  look for a full time job in the next 2 week. Yes, you heard it correctly so I won't say it again. FTJ! AGHHHHHH!!!!!

We can only take so many years of paycuts from CH Robinson. And it probably won't be in education. They are still laying off or rearranging teachers here in SD and my age and my non-PC ways make opportunities limited. I don't get enough work subbing exclusively at Ericson and I really don't have it in me to leave my teaching comfort zone at Ericson. Plus I want a job that I can go to, work and then leave. I'm thinking Trader Joe's or airline ticket/gate person... hard worker, good personality, smart...Little League President? Been there, Done that.

Any suggestions?

The Everyday Projecf Day 287

It was a long travel day but we are safely home. What an awesome vacation!

The bad part? Poor Pi has fleas so Colin gave her a bath and I put on the Advantix flea meds. It's always something. And there is tons of mail to deal with. I'm glad I did most of the laundry in NJ.

And Scott flew 1st class on  USAir     AND    he posts on Facebook about his empty flight complete with pictures of the free drinks. Meanwhile I am on a 100% full Southwest flight with all the kids...
