The Everyday Project Day 264

Cara made the decision to go on the East Coast trip in 8th grade. The trip cost close to $3000. Its a big thing out here for the 8th graders to go. I told her we would make it work but since she is starting 7th this Sept, she has to commit to saving and fundraising. We had a long talk about how she should save a percentage of ALL money she gets. That way she will always have a little spending money, yet have a good long time to make a significant contribution to her trip.

Colin's response to going on the trip was, "Why would I want to go on a trip with a bunch of people from school? If I want to go to any on those places (NY, Boston, Philly, Wash. DC, Gettysburg) Grandpa will take me. We don't need to spend all that money."

Today she gave me $60 that she had left from her birthday money to start the fund. When that girl is all in, she is all in.

It is what it is...

Update on Sean Casey
Another great week for Sean at OT and PT.  In OT they worked with playing cards to work his hands.  He had to shuffle and deal, which was hard, but it's coming along.  In PT they worked on building his leg muscles.  He also spent time in the pool at Spencer's house.  Sean's Rehab MD has cleared him to do warm-ups with his football team and some of the drills, but no contact yet.  He was so excited to have come this far.  He now goes to all the practices and works out with the team.
Jesika and Jerry decided to change Sean's school this year, partly because most of his friends attend the other school[Mesa Verde Middle School.] and mostly because it is totally flat so he won't have to do any stairs.  Mesa Verde has a lot of stairs and ramps that might be difficult for him to manage.  He has also been a victim of some cyber bullying from some kids from the other school.  This made the decision to change him to Black Mountain Middle School easier.  School starts on Aug. 21st so Jesi is going to meet with the Principle to talk about how the school can help Sean with his work due to the fact that he still cannot write.  I'm sure they will come up with some solution.
Sean is really happy with his progress, and Jerry and Jesi have him working out at home and they play board games with him so he uses his hands.  All in all everything is going really well.
None of this would have bee possible without our Faith in God and our wonderful friends and family praying for Sean's recovery.  May God Bless you all.
