The Everyday Project Day 179

For the 3rd time this season a team did not show up for their snack bar duty. We are limited in what we can do for penalties but I am so tired of doing other peoples jobs. This went out this morning to ALL families:

Three times this season entire teams have failed to show up for their assigned snack bar duty.

The snack bar schedule has been emailed out multiple times and is posted on the website. Teams are emailed a reminder usually  on the Monday of their week. The first item on the email blast is usually about the Snack Shack. Every available method  short of personally calling each parent before their shift is made to inform teams many weeks ahead of time who should be covering the snack bar. I spend an incredible amount of time just on this task.

Each team is assigned 3 Snack Bars shifts of about 3 hours. Each team has 12 members. Each shift requires 4 people. Therefore, the family of each player should have Snack Bar duty 1 time this entire season.

If for any reason you can/will not work your 1 shift, you have the option of hiring a teen for $20. The teen gets the money. I have had requests for teens THAT day and have honored that request.

When your team does not show up, Denise and I have to cover that shift or find someone to do it. We do everything thing in our power to make it easy for you to work in the snack bar.  We shop, we open, we close, we clean, we restock, we run to the bank for change. One or both of us are thereEVERY Tuesday, Thursday  and Saturday. All you have to do is show up and help the kids 1 time per season.

We have both missed our own players games many times to cover or help out when needed. Every single email blast that has been sent out since February has asked for an assistant to help out. We have had NOresponses.

My job as president is to run the entire league so you and your child can have an enjoyable baseball experience. Denise's job is to coordinate, manage and help when needed in the snack bar.

The next time an entire team does not show up to work their shift, the snack bar will be closed and locked. A sign will be put up stating which team did not show up for their shift.

If anyone has a question, comment , suggestion, concern or criticism regarding the snack bar or if the directness of this email offends you, please call me directly at 858-342-9398 or speak to me in person at the field. I will not respond to this email with another email.

I would like to thank all the people who show up on time for their shifts or for contacting me in a reasonable time frame to hire a teen.
