The Everyday Project Day 276

Today's field trip was to the old homestead of Stoney Creek Orchard.

On the way there we stopped by the mausoleum at Immaculate Conception Church in Annandale to visit my mom.
Next stop was the Reddington River Buffalo Farm.

It is owned by Farmer Eric and his family, friends of Paula  and Roger. We were allowed free roam of the barns. I think Andrew was a little freaked out. But he quickly made friends with the horses.

Farmer Eric rents out barn space for horses and we we lucky enough to be able to watch the farrier give the horses their new shoes.

The boys were equally cracking up and getting grossed out by the pigs. Stinky!!!!!

On to SCO. Cara is staying in it while she visits. I told her many people may use it, but its still my name on the door, proving you can always go home.

Poor Andrew had quite a bout of homesickness today. I'm not sure if it was the strangeness(to him) of the farm environment and all the open space, lack regular sleep, him not used to being away from home or a bit of everything. Fortunately, Roger to the rescue.

We were walking in the orchard ( sounds so serene doesn't it, strolling in the orchard) and Roger shows up  with the big dog, Magnus. He showed us some trees that were up rooted in Superstorm Sandy. The challenge was thrown down. Who could walk the farthest on the trees. Needless to say, that perked Andrew up and he climbed around those trees like a monkey. I have to brag and say this 50 year old did go the farthest through the trees. Although Andrew paved the way. Cara overcame her fear and took Roger and Andrew's directions well and followed Andrew's route. Sad to say, Colin turned around and made his way back. But hey, everyone has their own comfort level and did their personal best. Points for showing up and trying the SCO Wilderness Adventure Course. They could open it to the public and make some money. Pictures to come later since Roger had the camera.

Cara stayed another night and went to dog handling class with Paula at Neighbor Jane. That's Magnus's show handler. Only 5 more show points and that dog will have champion status!
Swimming with Magnus at Round Valley Reservoir yesterday.

Looking forward to my day tomorrow with my oldest, coolest and dearest friend, Audrey!

It is what it is...
Namaste
